The CFM56-5B engine model is manufactured by CFM International; a 50/50 joint venture between General Electric (USA) & Safran Aircraft Engines (France) and the original variant of the engine entered into commercial service in 1994. The CFM56-5B family with a thrust range of 21,600 – 32,000 (lbs) is one of two powerplant options available to power the Airbus A320ceo family of narrow-body aircraft comprising the A318, A319, A320 & A321.
